Basic Life Support (BLS) (Formerly known as BLS for Healthcare Providers)
Basic Life Support (BLS) is the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. It is designed for healthcare providers and trained first responders who provide care to patients in a wide variety of settings, and teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in pre-hospital and in-facility settings.
The new BLS Provider Course is equivalent to the BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS for HCP) course it replaces.
Our first aid course is a comprehensive two-day program designed for those who need training due to work requirements or for individuals who want to learn essential life support skills to better respond to emergencies at home. As required by regulation, our First Aid course covers cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the management of other breathing, airway and circulation emergencies, as well as the control of bleeding, treating shock, stabilizing fractures and dislocations, head and spine injuries, and more.
The Heart and Stroke Foundation Standard First Aid course meets provincial regulation requirements for workplace standard first aid courses in most provinces*.
Successful students receive a 3-year certification in Standard First Aid.
Who is First Aid for?
Workplace: This course is appropriate for employers and employees who require Standard First Aid training, as defined by provincial labour laws or workplace regulation.
General Public: This course is applicable to anyone who has a general interest in learning what to do in case of a medical emergency.
The 1st Aid segment is certified for 3 years but for the CPR segment it is recommended that this be re-certified annually.
This course takes 2 days (16 hours ) to complete.
There are times when a student is unable to attend a course. Bearing this in mind, I require a 24 hour notice if the student must cancel his / her presence on the course. Because I keep my classes small, the place of one student missing means that another student wanting to take the class was unable to.
A fee of $80.00 for a CPR course or $130.00 will be charged for a late cancellation.
Credit card information will be required at the time of booking the course.
Course payment may be made by cheque or cash at the course.
